
Annamaria Mazzoni

Annamaria Mazzoni is a researcher in environmental economics with over 10 years of international experience across institutions in the U.S., Qatar, and Italy. She is currently a Senior Researcher at the CMCC Foundation, working within the Soil and Water Systems Division.
Her expertise includes water resources management, the Water-Food-Energy Nexus, non-conventional water sources, hydro-economic modeling, and sustainable water governance. She has significant experience in the SWANA region (Southwest Asia and North Africa) and currently focuses on groundwater sustainability in arid and hyper-arid regions, integrating climate science, hydrological modeling, and socio-economic analysis.
Annamaria previously held positions at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (Qatar Foundation), the University of Southern California, and Caltech. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Turin and Collegio Carlo Alberto, an MA in Economics and Environmental Policy, and a BA in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Bologna.
