Luca Di Leo
Program Director, Head of Global Corporate Communications - Ferrero
Luca is a communication executive and economic journalist driven by sustainability. In 2020 he co-founded the Food & Sustainability Certificate Program, which he now leads as Scientific Co-Director. He currently holds the position of Head of Global Communication at Ferrero. Before then, for almost a decade, he held senior communication roles at the Italian food company Barilla, andvwas deeply involved in the Barilla Foundation. Taking from the Foundation’s research on sustainable food systems, Luca played a key role in formalizing Barilla’s “Good for you, good for the Planet” purpose and its subsequent communications strategy. Previously, Luca worked as a reporter and editor for top media including The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Dow Jones, Reuters, and The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). He was a special envoy to key international meetings of the G8, G20, the EU, and the IMF and covered the economic fallout from the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the bursting of the technology bubble, the introduction of the euro, and two global recessions. From Washington DC, working with Pulitzer-prize-winning journalists from the WSJ, he followed the US government’s handling of the global financial crisis: a policy experiment of historic proportions led by the US Federal Reserve.
