John Scott is the Head of Sustainability Risk at Zurich Insurance Group, bringing a wealth of experience to his role. With a tenure at Zurich since 2001, he has held various key positions, including Chief Risk Officer for Zurich's Global Corporate and Commercial Insurance businesses. Over the past decade, John has been increasingly focused on global risks, especially climate change risk, leveraging his background in the oil & gas and chemicals industries. His extensive involvement in industry and government organizations has granted him a profound understanding of the risks and opportunities that climate change presents to businesses, governments, and society. John actively contributes to shaping climate change and green finance policies through various initiatives, and he holds advisory roles in prominent organizations such as the World Economic Forum, the Bank of England Climate Financial Risk Forum, and the UN-convened Net Zero Asset Owners Alliance, among others. In addition to his role at Zurich, John is an Honorary Professor at the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction at University College London (UCL) and serves as Deputy Chair in Climatewise and the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership (CISL) Insurance Advisory Council.
