Professor Renée Cummings is an AI, data, and technology
ethicist and a 2023 VentureBeat AI Innovator Award recipient. She
is the first Data Activist-in-Residence and Professor of Practice in
Data Science at the University of Virginia, where she also
co-directs the Public Interest Technology University Network, and
she is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and All Tech Is
Human. She also serves on several global advisory bodies,
including the World Economic Forum’s Data Equity Council and AI Governance Alliance, and
is a criminologist and community scholar at Columbia University.
