Alberto Savoia

Google's first Engineering Director and Innovation Agitator Emeritus

As Google’s first Engineering Director, he spearheaded the team that launched the phenomenally successful Google AdWords. Recognizing the need to sustain Google's rapid growth, he shifted his focus to internal innovation, creating the unique position of Google’s Innovation Agitator. In this role, he developed the Apex Innovator's Toolkit, a powerful suite of tools and practices designed to instill and enable the creativity, agility, courage to innovate across Google.

The effectiveness of Alberto’s innovation methodologies gained widespread attention beyond Google. Currently, he teaches and implements Apex Innovation globally, serves as a lecturer at Stanford University, and coaches Fortune 500 organizations. From his first “Innovate Like A Startup. Go To Market Like A Grownup” Stanford workshop in 2011, to his current “How To Become an Apex Innovators” executive seminars, Alberto’s insights and techniques have had a significant and lasting impact on how numerous world-leading companies perceive and execute innovation strategies.

Alberto has received significant accolades for his work, including the Wall Street Journal Technical Innovator Award. He is the author of “The Right It—Why most new ideas fail and how to make sure yours succeed,” published by HarperCollins in 2019.
